1. Overview & Commitment to Privacy
MavAgents ("we", "us", or "our") develops BaristaAI, a cross-platform pour-over coffee companion application. We believe your coffee preferences, recipes, and brewing history belong to you. BaristaAI is engineered with a privacy-first, local-first architecture: your data remains on your physical device and does not require account creation.
2. Information We Process
2.1 On-Device Local Data
All user-generated brewing data—including equipment profiles, grinder calibration settings, digital bean stash, custom recipes, and post-brew sensory logs—is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device. We do not operate centralized user database servers holding your personal data.
2.2 Camera & Image Processing
BaristaAI requests camera permission solely to scan coffee bean bag labels using on-device optical character recognition (OCR) and roast meter detection (LiteRT/ML Kit). No images, photographs, or video frames are ever transmitted over the network or saved to our servers. Image processing occurs 100% locally in your device's memory.
3. Google Drive Cloud Backup & Restore
BaristaAI offers an optional, user-initiated backup and restore feature using Google Drive.
3.1 Scope of Access
When you connect Google Drive, BaristaAI requests access strictly to the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata scope (Application Data folder). This is a hidden, sandboxed directory that allows BaristaAI to store and retrieve encrypted .barista backup archives.
- Zero Access to Personal Files: BaristaAI cannot see, read, modify, or delete any of your documents, photos, or other files in Google Drive.
- Direct Connection: Your device communicates directly with Google's APIs. MavAgents does not operate intermediate servers and cannot access your backup contents.
3.2 Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance
BaristaAI's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We only use access to read, write, and delete BaristaAI backup archives created by the app.
- We do not transfer or disclose Google user data to third parties.
- We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements, personalized advertising, or for training generalized AI/ML models.
4. Advertising & Monetization
To support ongoing development, BaristaAI may display third-party advertisements (such as via Google AdMob).
- Ad partners may collect and process pseudonymous identifiers, such as the Google Advertising ID (GAID), device information, and IP address for fraud detection, ad delivery, and frequency capping.
- You can manage or reset your advertising preferences and opt out of personalized ads at any time via your device's Settings > Google > Ads.
- Your coffee brewing recipes, equipment profiles, and bean logs are never shared with advertising networks.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Because your data is stored locally, you maintain total control:
- Local Data: You can wipe all app data at any time by clearing application data in Android settings or uninstalling the app.
- Cloud Backups: You can delete any cloud backup directly from the BaristaAI Settings menu, or revoke Google Drive permissions in your Google Account security settings.
6. Children's Privacy
BaristaAI is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
